This report analyzes the scale, flow, profit distribution, and impact of 12 different types of illicit trade: drugs, humans, wildlife, counterfeit goods and currency, human organs, small arms, diamonds and colored gemstones, oil, timber, fish, art and cultural property, and gold. In its analysis of the global illicit oil trade the report suggests that this market “is both a product and a perpetuator of underdevelopment,” and estimates that “the average yearly value of illicit oil from 2003 to 2010 was $10.8 billion.”
