Norway's Petroleum Activities Act was passed in November, 1996 and last amended in June, 2009. The Act establishes the principles that the Norwegian state owns all subsea petroleum within national borders, has the exclusive right to manage these resources, and is alone authorized to award licenses for petroleum activities.
