This article from the Deutsches Institut für Entwicklungspolitik/German Development Institute (DIE)'s "The Current Column" series argues that the role of Brazilian and Chinese investments in Angola poses a problem for development in Angola not dissimilar to the problems posed by more traditional actors such as the United States and European countries. It discusses the imperative for sustainable and transparent economic development in Angola, and references potential avenues by which the transparency of China and Brazil's substantial investments and business activities in Angola might be improved.
