By working directly with members of civil society, parliamentarians in Tanzania were able to improve their draft mining bill dramatically. Before the joint effort, civil society rarely spoke with a collective voice, or conducted evidence-based advocacy under tight deadlines. As one parliamentarian explains in this video, the final law "was really written by different people, not the government alone."
