On September 2, Guinean civil society welcomed the government submitting to parliament the country's revised mining code. Publish What You Pay Guinea congratulated the Ministry of Mines for consulting civil society in its proposal of new transparency and anti-corruption provisions and encouraged it to include a contract review process. President Alpha Conde earlier announced his commitment to lawful competition and management in the mining sector.
