Guinea Conakry: Strengthening Civil Society Capacity in the EITI Process
In 2006 with the support of the World Bank's Development Grant Facility, RWI provided support to the African Center for Development Training (CENAFOD) in Guinea Conakry. The project sought to facilitate a training and public awareness program around EITI processes and implementation in communities affected by mining. Areas of focus included increasing civil society awareness of EITI, promoting the importance of transparency for sustainable development and poverty reduction, creating and mobilizing local civil society coalitions, and strengthening the capacity of local media to disseminate information on EITI.
CENAFOD is an experienced local NGO with vast experience in information dissemination, training, capacity building and local development and advocacy work. It has managed several projects in the past for international organizations such as the World Bank, the European Union, and the African Development Bank.

Financial Summary
Revenue Watch and our partners engage in increasingly diverse forms of public finance monitoring, including service delivery, participatory budgeting, and aid and expenditure tracking. Our partners are coalescing into an indigenous-led network of non-governmental organizations at the forefront of the battle against corruption and abuse of the public interest.
Grant-making is RWI's primary tool for engaging civil society in resource-rich countries and is an important means to motivate, support and build grassroots movements that create sustained local and international demand for revenue and expenditure transparency.
RWI takes a comprehensive approach to improving governance and development across the entire value chain, from the organization of extractive production, revenue generation, and revenue management, and through to the expenditure processes and national development outcomes.
